They were very helpful, better value, and dealt with my claim within 7 months. After a 4 and a half years issue with my previous solicitors.
A burn is a challenging injury to suffer from, causing not only pain but potentially also leaving disfiguring scars and emotional trauma.
Minor burns or scalds will heal within a matter of months, although there may be some residual skin sensitivity in that area. More serious burns such as chemical burns can be life-changing, leaving permanent visible scarring which can shatter a person’s confidence.
For more severe injuries, cosmetic surgery may even be required.
According to data from the Labour Force Survey, 23,000 UK workers sustained a non-fatal burn injury at work during the three years studied, with mishandling of chemicals as a leading cause.
Accidents leading to burn injuries can occur in environments where employees regularly handle hot substances or are in close proximity to machinery that heats up. This could be factories or industrial kitchens. Many workplaces regularly handle dangerous chemicals which can inflict serious burns.
If you’ve suffered a burn injury at work, we understand how distressing this can be, especially if you need access to treatment or special equipment to support your daily life.
Compensation is designed to redress the damages. No amount of money can make up for the pain or scarring left from the injury, but it can help you move forward and live well.

A burn is an unpleasant injury which can be extremely painful. Minor burns or scalds may heal within a few months but other burns can leave permanent scars which affect your life. You may feel disfigured which can seriously knock your confidence.
Medium and long-term consequences could be:
You may have to take time off work, which can affect your income. If a burns injury at work was the result of negligence and has significantly impacted your life, you may be able to claim compensation.
The purpose of compensation is to provide you with the financial means to take care of your needs while you recover and to cover any losses caused by the accident.
This means that you can get access to the medical care you need and protect yourself financially - now and in the future.
The amount you receive depends on the severity of the injury, your financial losses, and the extent of the lifestyle changes you’re forced to make.
Check out our skin injury compensation calculator to see what the value of your claim could be.
There are four main types of burns:
A superficial epidermal burn affects the outer skin layer and is the least serious type of burn. The skin appears red and swollen but it is not blistered. Although it hurts there is usually no lasting damage.
A superficial dermal burn is slightly more serious. The skin is pink and painful, often with blistering around the affected area.
A deep dermal, or partial thickness burn is when the epidermis and dermis are damaged. The skin usually looks red and blotchy. Some people find their skin becomes dry, while others it becomes moist. Most people suffering from this type of burn experience some swelling and blistering.
Full thickness burns are the most serious and will take longer to heal perhaps requiring skin grafts. The skin may appear pale white or black and charred. You may not experience any pain. For burns, the level of pain is not necessarily related to the seriousness.
Chemical burns are caused by exposure to corrosive substances such as acids, solvents, and bases. Workers may come into contact with or mishandle harmful chemicals due to insufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) or inadequate training.
Electrical burns are caused by contact with faulty equipment or electrified water. Electrical equipment could be unsafe due to negligence in failing to test the equipment properly.
Burns can be sustained due to exposure to extreme heat from hot pipes, engines, and heated tools. Contact with hot water and steam can cause scalds.
