(I am) extremely happy, couldn't think of a better (firm) to handle my claim. I am very happy and I would like to thank you extensively. Service from all the staff was excellent.
I’m incredibly grateful to all at PSR Solicitors. I was sceptical at first of the ‘No Win, No Fee’ basis simply due to never taking legal action before. However, I will have no hesitancy recommending you to other who find themselves in similar circumstances. I’m really pleased with the result.
They were very helpful, better value, and dealt with my claim within 7 months. After a 4 and a half years issue with my previous solicitors.
The service I received from start to finish was exceptional, everything was dealt with a timely and professional manner! I was kept informed throughout and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I will most definitely be recommending this company to all. Well done PSR

Families can be put under further strain if this most serious of injuries befall the person that earns the majority of income for the household. It is quite possible that a return to work for the injured person may never be possible.
Naturally, it is easy to understand how, when dealing with a loved one sustaining a serious traumatic brain injury, the last pressure that is needed is one of financial worry.
Our Brain Injury Solicitors can help you in the immediate aftermath of such an injury by making provision for ongoing care, financial security, complementary aids and support to enable as much independence and the best quality of life that is possible in the circumstances.
A serious brain injury can often mean family members or partners having to give up their own careers to provide care for their injured loved one. A brain injury can have a wide-reaching impact on a family’s life.
Of course, it is not always the case that a brain injury leaves the injured person unable to ever care for themselves or to return to a full life of work and normality. Some people do make full or partial recoveries. However, if the person has not recovered fully in the few months following a brain injury, there is little chance of a full recovery taking shape over time.
Lesser brain injuries can cause memory loss, loss of smell and taste and visual and auditory impairment, or even memory loss, whereas the most serious of brain injuries can leave people in a 'Persistent Vegetative State' (PSV) where they require 24-hour care for the rest of their lives.
At PSR Solicitors, we have an exceptional team of highly trained legal professionals who can help you secure the maximum amount of compensation to cover private medical treatment, rehabilitation, counselling and specialist equipment to help you come to terms with your injury and live as independently as possible.
Your compensation award is there to recognise the significance of your injuries, redress the financial damage and physical harm caused and to ensure that you have access to all the services you require to give you the best chance of recovery.
Any financial award will cover:
The amount of compensation you are likely to receive will depend on the extent of your injuries, the impact on you and your livelihood, how long your recovery is likely to take and the financial implications of what has happened to you.
A traumatic brain injury is a sudden blow to the head causing the brain to crash from side to side into the skull. This impact can lead to bruising, bleeding, and tearing of nerve fiber which disrupts the normal function of the brain. Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are defined as being either mild, moderate or severe.
Mild concussion may be treated with rest and medication, while severe brain injuries may have a life-altering impact on a person’s physical and mental abilities.
Due to the high speed, high impact nature of most road traffic accidents, it is highly likely that head and brain injuries will be sustained. In fact, between 40% and 50% of all brain injuries are due to the person being involved in an accident on the road whether they are in a vehicle, on a bike or walking.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, a motorbike accident or a cycling accident due to at-fault, negligent, reckless or aggressive drivers you may be entitled to compensation.
If the accident was caused by defective parts, defective or recalled vehicles or automotive design defects you need an experienced brain injury lawyer to protect your rights and fight for a financial settlement to pay for the damages you have incurred. Compensation can also be used to cover the future costs of the care you need.
Contact our team today by phone or leave your details in the enquiry form and we’ll call you back.
I find your service to be highly recommendable. May I say that I am more than pleased with the way you have handled my claim for compensation and I would fully recommend your services to anyone.
Your questions answered
Anyone who has suffered from a brain injury in the past three years where someone else is to blame will be able to make a compensation claim. Whether symptoms are short-term or long-lasting, the injured person deserves to be fully compensated for the pain, inconvenience, financial costs and suffering experienced. Of course, it is generally the case that people with the most serious of brain injuries rely on others to make the brain injury claim for them.
Embarking on the legal process to claiming compensation after an accident involving a serious injury such as a brain injury is understandably not a priority in the immediate days following the injury, but there are time limits within which compensation claims for injuries need to be made.
The best advice is to seek guidance from a qualified Brain Injury Lawyer as early as possible. The sooner you get legal advice, the easier it will be to compile the evidence needed to make your Brain Injury Claim a compelling case for suitable compensation.
In general, under the law of England and Wales, personal injury claims must be made within three years of the date of the accident, or within three years of the date it became clear that an illness or injury was caused by a particular accident or incident. This time limit may be extended though if the injured party was under the age of 18 at the time, or lacks the capacity to claim due to mental illness.
If you have sustained a brain injury during a criminal assault, and you are making a claim against the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA), there is a two-year time limit.
From a practical perspective though, you should not delay in making a start with the claim process. This is primarily because it will become significantly more difficult to gather the evidence you need for a successful claim the longer it is since the accident took place.
The affordability of legal fees is a major concern that many people share and can even exacerbate the stress that you are already under. We often meet clients who have been unsure about whether to proceed with a claim due to the possible financial implications, so allow us to lighten the load.
There are several ways to fund a brain injury claim. As each case is different, the best option is to speak to your solicitor about your circumstances. The first step is to check whether you have insurance that covers legal expenses. This is sometimes the case with a home insurance policy. If so, we may be able to ask your insurer to pay your legal fees.
If you don’t have insurance, and your solicitor determines that there is a reasonable chance of bringing a successful claim, then you may be offered a conditional fee agreement which is also sometimes known as a ‘no win no fee’ agreement.
To make a No Win No Fee compensation claim your accident or injury must have occurred within the past three years and have been caused in full or in part by the fault or negligence of someone else.
In a no win no fee agreement, legal fees are only payable on receipt of a successful claim. We will be able to estimate this fee during your initial consultation with us when we assess the circumstances surrounding your accident, the injuries that you have sustained and the amount of compensation that you are likely to receive. Any fees that you owe will be settled straight from your final lump sum so it is never money that you will have to find.
However, you decide to cover the costs of your claim, your specialist Brain Injury Solicitors will be there to explain everything to you in a way that you understand so that you can make the best decision for your circumstances.
The first step is to contact one of our Serious injury solicitors. With multiple offices across the UK, you can talk to one of our Injury Lawyers in Cheshire or our Personal Injury Solicitors in Wales.
You can do this by phone, email or by completing the online enquiry form. We will then gather more detailed information from you including where and how the injury occurred, who else was involved and whether there were any witnesses present. We will then be able to advise on how likely you are to have a successful claim, the amount you can expect to receive and what to do next.
We understand that these conversations might be difficult or upsetting for you but we will go at your pace and won’t ever make you feel pressured or rushed. We can arrange face-to-face meetings with you at home or in hospital, to make you feel as comfortable and relaxed as we can and will aim to make the entire process as straightforward and stress-free as possible for you.
If your claim is successful, the defendant will pay the agreed compensation which could include:
The defendant can be an individual or a company and generally the claim will be dealt with by the defendant’s insurer. If the case involves a violent criminal act, we can seek compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

Managing Director
All Offices
I am the Managing Director of PSR Solicitors. After working in various law firms, both small high street firms and a larger practice in Manchester, I saw a gap in the market for a high quality practice that had the same core high street values of being personable and approachable and combining them with the efficiency and professionalism of a larger practice. PSR Solicitors was therefore established in 2009 in Shotton, Deeside with this aim. Since then PSR Solicitors has provided high quality legal services to local clients throughout North Wales and Cheshire.
I live in Chester with my young family and 2 dogs and enjoy regular holidays along the coast of North Wales.
I have recently been asked to join the board of trustees at Platform For Life, a mental health counselling charity in Chester. Good mental health is the foundation of a more fulfilled, happy and healthy life, yet many families struggle to access the help and support they need to achieve it. Platform for Life offers free local counselling and play therapy for families who would otherwise not be able to afford it.
Mark House
Solicitor - Head of Litigation
Shotton Office, Wrexham Office, Colwyn Bay Office, Wallasey Office
I completed my law degree and legal practice course at Nottingham Law School, before qualifying as a solicitor in 2004. I then worked at a specialist personal injury firm in the East Midlands and a leading regional firm, before joining PSR in 2017.
With PSR I've continued to specialise in acting for Personal Injury claimants and have developed a keen understanding of the procedures and tactics involved in pursuing a claim, as well as the difficulties and concerns faced by people who have suffered as the result of an accident.
Since 2014 I've been proud to help hundreds of people. I've represented the public in all manner of injury claims, including serious orthopaedic injuries, brain damage, and psychological trauma. I was instructed to deal with claims for clients in the aftermath of the Potters Bar rail crash and the Penhallow hotel fire.
In addition, I represent clients in relation to all manner of disputes. I have dealt with professional negligence claims, such as those against solicitors and builders. I have helped clients recover money which is due to them and to dispute invoices which have been sent to them. I have helped business defend claims against them. I have tackled neighbour and boundary disputes.
I live locally to the Colwyn Bay office, and outside of work, I enjoy taking advantage of the coastal and mountain outdoor activities which are available on the doorstep. I'm also heavily involved with an outdoor pursuits charity, which I find an enjoyable and rewarding way of using my free time.
Sustaining a brain injury can be catastrophic as the brain is integral to how we function. It is responsible for sending and receiving messages to and from the other parts of the body so if an injury interrupts these signals the effects are potentially devastating.
Brain injuries are usually caused by a violent blow or impact to the head or body, when an object penetrates the brain tissue or when blood or oxygen to the brain is restricted.
Symptoms can vary and can include to a lesser or greater degree visual disturbances, headaches, seizures, changes in mood, depression, anxiety, sensory problems, vomiting and nausea, drowsiness, loss of coordination, memory loss and numbness or loss of feeling. The most severe injuries can cause long-term, lasting damage resulting in permanent physical or mental disability.
The terms mild, moderate and severe describe the effect of the injury on the brain function but they are all serious injuries that need swift medical attention.
Brain injuries are often categorised in one of three ways:
The degree of the damage done depends on the position, force and nature of the impact sustained and will determine the level of recovery that you can expect.
It is impossible to give an indication of the extent of recovery and the exact timescales involved because every brain injury is unique.
Unlike the majority of other cells in the body, brain cells are unable to regenerate when they’re destroyed but this does not mean that recovery is unattainable. The brain is an amazing and adaptable organ, reorganising, to an extent, so that other parts of the brain take over some functions the damaged part of the brain used to carry out. This is referred to as ‘brain plasticity’.
During rehabilitation, the key is maximising the new nerve pathways that are developed, and this is achieved by engaging in the appropriate levels of activity
In the first couple of months following a severe brain injury it is only possible to estimate the potential recovery time and the extent of the recovery, but it is likely to be months, rather than weeks.
Normally after six months the picture will be much clearer but it is common to wait a year before making any key decisions because by this time the medical experts will have a very clear picture of the extent of recovery.
Recovery tends to slow the greater the amount of time that passes after the injury, with the biggest recovery gains made in the first 6 months, but that is not to say that incremental recovery cannot occur beyond the 2 years post-injury.
There are many rehabilitation services available in the UK, both private and those run by the NHS. PRS’s injury lawyers have built a strong network of skilled medical experts that can help support you through this important period.
Throughout the rehabilitation cycle it is likely the environment where your rehabilitation is administered changes, here are the likely settings.
Inpatient rehabilitation: Neurological rehabilitation centres offer the ideal setting for intensive specialist rehabilitation for people not yet ready to return home after discharge from hospital. Here a personal rehabilitation programme will be developed and implemented throughout the day.
Outpatient rehabilitation: As individuals recover and become well enough to return home, they may need further treatment as an outpatient, this can be a rehabilitation centre or at the local hospital
Community rehabilitation: Following an inpatient rehabilitation stay at a neurological centre, some individuals may be transferred to a residential transitional living unit. This is a place where people can develop their independent living skills with the longer-term objective of moving home. In other cases, the person may go home immediately after being discharged, with a community rehabilitation team providing further rehabilitation and assistance in their home.
