Accessible by both road and rail from the Northwest's major cities and with a good selection of highly rated schools, Conwy has a lot to offer both families, retirees and property investors alike.

Highlights of the Conwy Property Market

Education

The excellent education options in and around Conwy are a major draw to parents of children of school age, with two primary schools with an Outstanding rating (Ysgol Deganwy, Ysgol Porth y Felin) and one secondary school rated Good (Ysgol Aberconwy) within easy reach.

Transport

Conwy is just over an hour’s drive from two of the Northwest’s major cities - Manchester and Liverpool, accessed along the A55, via the M56 and M53 respectively. These routes also offer access to the M6, M5 and M1 making reaching the Midlands and South of England equally simple. If you prefer to travel by train, you’ll have no issue with catching a train to and from the region’s major cities, with direct trains from Manchester taking approximately 2 hours. International travel is also easily accessible, with flights to most of the rest of the world from either Manchester Airport or Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Shopping and eating

Conwy offers a varied range of places to eat and drink. Fine dining restaurants, such as Signatures Restaurant; traditional pubs, including the highly-rated ‘The Mulberry’ at Conwy Marina and snug cafes, such as The Midland StreetCafe can all be found throughout the town. There are also a number of superb fish & chip shops that offer both eat-in dining and takeaways but if you opt for the latter, please watch out for the Seagulls! It’s also host to a number of hotels and B&Bs – many of which are in close proximity to the castle itself.

Leisure and Culture

Recognised as one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Britain and awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status for its Castle and walls (along with Edward I’s other castles at Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Harlech) Conwy is steeped in history and culture. As well as the castle and walls, Conwy is home to Aberconwy House, a 14th-century Merchant’s house that has survived over six centuries of turbulent history and offers an intriguing insight into how people lived from Tudor to Victorian times. If you go down to Conwy’s quayside you’ll also find what is reputed to be the smallest house in Britain, known as Quay House, which stands at just 72 inches wide by 122 inches high.

Nature and the Great Outdoors

Surrounded by spectacular Welsh countryside,  overlooked by the mighty mountains of Snowdonia and situated on a stunning coastline, it’s a most beautiful place to call home and a magnet for adventurers of all ages. Whether you enjoy hiking in the peaks of Snowdonia, a sedate walk around the marina or a boat trip to take in some of the fabulous coastal scenery, Conwy has it all.
