I find your service to be highly recommendable. May I say that I am more than pleased with the way you have handled my claim for compensation and I would fully recommend your services to anyone.

Mrs W Mold 5 Star

I’m incredibly grateful to all at PSR Solicitors. I was sceptical at first of the ‘No Win, No Fee’ basis simply due to never taking legal action before. However, I will have no hesitancy recommending you to other who find themselves in similar circumstances. I’m really pleased with the result.

Mr J Cheshire 5 Star Google Rating

The service I received from start to finish was exceptional, everything was dealt with a timely and professional manner! I was kept informed throughout and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I will most definitely be recommending this company to all. Well done PSR

Eye Injury & Loss of Sight Compensation

Serious eye injuries range from temporary vision loss (often the result of a head injury) to full blindness caused by a serious accident.

Eye injuries are devastating and can have a detrimental effect not only on the injured person but their family and friends. Care will have to be provided, the family home will have to be adapted and employment issues may arise.

You may feel vulnerable and overwhelmed by what has happened to you, but you are certainly not alone. Our specially trained lawyers can help you to access the exact treatment and services you need and to secure the maximum amount of compensation you are entitled to, to help you move on from the accident and to begin enjoying life again.

Any compensation awarded to you is designed to redress the balance and place you in the position you were in before you were injured. This means ensuring you have all the equipment and medical care necessary to get on with your life and to protect you against any financial loss both now and in the future.

No amount of money can help with the pain and suffering you have experienced but it can help with your recovery, your future and your financial security.

Your compensation award is designed to help with:

  • Any medical costs including treatment, rehabilitation or counselling.
  • Purchasing specialist equipment that you may need to help with your injuries.
  • Funding any adaptations to your home that may be required to help you live independently.
  • Protecting you against loss of earnings, including any future earnings that may be in jeopardy as a result of your injury.
  • Expenses incurred such as travel to and from hospital appointments.

If you're interested in finding out the possible value of compensation associated with the general damages for your type of eye injury, Please find more information on our Eye injury compensation calculator guide

Paul Rossiter

Managing Director

I am the Managing Director of PSR Solicitors. After working in various law firms, both small high street firms and a larger practice in Manchester, I saw a gap in the market for a high quality practice that had the same core high street values of being personable and approachable and combining them with the efficiency and professionalism of a larger practice.  PSR Solicitors was therefore established in 2009 in Shotton, Deeside with this aim. Since then PSR Solicitors has provided high quality legal services to local clients throughout North Wales and Cheshire.

I live in Chester with my young family and 2 dogs and enjoy regular holidays along the coast of North Wales.

I have recently been asked to join the board of trustees at Platform For Life, a mental health counselling charity in Chester. Good mental health is the foundation of a more fulfilled, happy and healthy life, yet many families struggle to access the help and support they need to achieve it. Platform for Life offers free local counselling and play therapy for families who would otherwise not be able to afford it.

Mark House

Solicitor - Head of Litigation

I completed my law degree and legal practice course at Nottingham Law School, before qualifying as a solicitor in 2004. I then worked at a specialist personal injury firm in the East Midlands and a leading regional firm, before joining PSR in 2017.

With PSR I've continued to specialise in acting for Personal Injury claimants and have developed a keen understanding of the procedures and tactics involved in pursuing a claim, as well as the difficulties and concerns faced by people who have suffered as the result of an accident.

Since 2014 I've been proud to help hundreds of people. I've represented the public in all manner of injury claims, including serious orthopaedic injuries, brain damage, and psychological trauma. I was instructed to deal with claims for clients in the aftermath of the Potters Bar rail crash and the Penhallow hotel fire.

In addition, I represent clients in relation to all manner of disputes. I have dealt with professional negligence claims, such as those against solicitors and builders. I have helped clients recover money which is due to them and to dispute invoices which have been sent to them. I have helped business defend claims against them. I have tackled neighbour and boundary disputes.

I live locally to the Colwyn Bay office, and outside of work, I enjoy taking advantage of the coastal and mountain outdoor activities which are available on the doorstep. I'm also heavily involved with an outdoor pursuits charity, which I find an enjoyable and rewarding way of using my free time.

Common types of Eye Injury

Eye injuries are extremely common, but the effects can be severe.  We take our role in helping clients to access the correct treatment, support, and compensation extremely seriously.

Injuries that we regularly help clients with include:

Corneal Abrasions & Lacerations

The cornea is the clear window at the front of the eye, which can be easily scratched or even cut. Abrasions or scratches are usually minor and tend to heal quickly although some can cause more long-term problems requiring steroid treatments to prevent inflammation and scarring and to ease any pain and sensitivity to light. Lacerations, which cut through the cornea, are more serious requiring immediate medical attention to avoid sight loss. These are commonly caused by accidents where glass or other projectiles have hit the front of the eye or because of physical assault.

Chemical Burns

These usually occur as the result of exposure to household cleaning products or industrial chemicals, in gas, liquid or powder form. Severe burns can result in damage to the cornea, ulcers on the eye, cataracts, which are an abnormal clouding of the eye’s lens, or glaucoma, which is high pressure in the eye causing damage to the optic nerve.

Blunt Trauma

Blunt trauma to the eye simply means a blow or impact from a blunt object such as a ball or fist and can cause inflammation, damage to the optic nerve, retinal detachment or facial fractures affecting the eye socket and will require urgent medical attention.

Foreign Bodies in the Eye

Foreign bodies in the eye include items such as grit, wooden splinters or metal shavings, which can cause corneal damage including lacerations or cuts. They usually occur as the result of not having the correct protective eyewear whilst carrying out manual work.

Exposure of the Eye to Radiation

Ultraviolet light is the most common cause of radiation damage to the eye. If the eye is exposed to ultraviolet light, as the result of using a sunbed or sunlamp without the correct eye protection for example, damage can occur to the cornea resulting in cuts and tears, a clouding of the eye’s lens, known as cataracts, or eye cancer.
