Employer's Liability Insurance is a legal requirement for most companies in the UK. It’s a special type of insurance that pays compensation to employees who are injured in the workplace. In the event of an accident in the workplace it is usually the employer's insurance company who would pay compensation.

Will I still be able to claim for an office injury after the law changes in April 2020?

From April 2020, personal injury claims under £2,000 (£5,000 for road traffic accidents) will be heard in the small claims court. You will still be able to make a claim, but it is very unlikely that you would be able to engage a solicitor to represent you. There are plans for an official online system which would provide some assistance to those representing themselves, but there has been no progress with this as of January 2020.
