PSR Solicitors have successfully obtained over £3,000 for an individual from Mold who suffered a burn injury from an accident in a hotel in Rhyl, North Wales.
The circumstances of the accident were that our client was staying at the country house on holiday. During her evening meal she wished to obtain some sponge pudding from a self-serve table top heating unit. As our client attempted to open the lid it stuck and the whole unit fell forward spilling boiling water onto her leg and foot. In addition, our client also attempted to stop it falling and so held on to the unit, aggravating a prior shoulder injury. Following the accident the unit was immediately removed by the hotel staff from the serving hall.
Liability was easily established for the accident which quite clearly should not have happened. The risk of injury from boiling water is something we are all made aware of from an early age, here quite clearly the heating unit should have been secured to prevent it from toppling over.
