North Wales Lockdown Advice About Moving House

You can still move home after the 1st October.

There has been a sharp increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Flintshire area and other parts of North Wales. As a result new restrictions have been introduced from 6pm tonight to reduce the spread of the virus in these areas and protect people living in these locations. This follows on from similar increases in infection rates and subsequent restrictions in South Wales.

We would like to update all our clients on the implications of the latest local lockdown rules which will affect our clients in the following areas: Wrexham, Flintshire, Conwy and Denbighshire and which come into effect from 6pm on the 1st October.

The main restrictions which apply to the majority of people are:

1.     You will not be allowed to enter or leave the Flintshire, Wrexham, Conwy and Denbighshire area without a reasonable excuse

2.     You will no longer be able to be part of an extended household or bubble

3.     You will not be able to meet indoors with anyone who is not part of your household. The exception being if you are providing care to a vulnerable person

4.     All licensed premises, pubs and restaurants have to stop serving alcohol at 10pm

5.     Finally if possible people must work from home

However moving Home is still possible

One of the permitted activities under the new lockdown rules will include being able to sell your home and move house. This is set out in The Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No. 2) (Wales) Regulations 2020, as amended.

If anyone in the chain, buyer or seller, develops symptoms and has to self isolate the any house move must be delayed.

Also any work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople such as builders and plumbers, can continue. This is again on the basis that both the tradesperson and household members should be well and have no symptoms of coronavirus.

These new restrictions will be in place until the risk of the spread of coronavirus has reduced and the government decide that they can be relaxed. The Welsh Government has a duty to review these restrictions after two weeks and every week after that if the restrictions remain in place longer than that.

So for now please continue to look to move home and we can reassure that we will be holding your hand every step of the way as we negotiate through the coming weeks.
