We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
The Snowdonia Society is a member-based conservation charity that works with volunteers, local communities, organisations, businesses and individuals to help look after Snowdonia. Since 1967 the Snowdonia Society has worked tirelessly to ensure that Snowdonia is well-protected, well-managed and enjoyed by all.
Through our conservation work we provide helping hands and a strong voice for Snowdonia’s special landscape. But ultimately it is about the heart – the relationships people have with the nature, landscape and culture of Snowdonia.

Our Mission
We aim to achieve our long term vision of local community resilience by bringing back old fashioned values and adding new ones, to fit with today’s society by developing the fading community spirit. In consultation with community members, we have identified a number of aims and objectives to support local people to achieve by inspiring and engaging the communities themselves.
SPACE was founded in 2014 by a group of parents of children with additional needs that were frustrated by the lack of appropriate play resources and support locally. And so, we decided to do something about it. We began by running play sessions in hired community rooms for over 4 years. The need for our service was much greater than we were able to satisfy, and our sessions were often at risk of overcapacity. In October 2018 we took on our own premises in Chester. After a very busy period of building work and a refit, we opened in February 2020.
Our centre includes a large fully accessible, 2 storey play frame and soft play area, Ellie’s Room; a fully fitted and padded sensory room, a versatile activity room, and a changing place (with hoist). Our new centre provides us with the opportunity to grow, to reach more families and to provide facilities for many more children. We are governed by a team of 6 trustees that between them bring experience of disability, HR, law, education, marketing, accountancy and auditing, disability project delivery and learning and development. We have a part time staff team of 3, a Charity Manager and 2 Project Co-ordinators. In addition, we are supported by a fantastic team of volunteers that give up their time to assist at play sessions and at fundraising events.
