

In the course of providing legal services to you, we may acquire either direct from yourself or from third parties, personal data about you. We may also acquire sensitive personal data (which means information regarding your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or other beliefs, membership of a trade union, your physical or mental health, the commission or alleged commission by you of an offence or any criminal proceedings against you).
If such personal data or sensitive data is obtained it will be processed and used to enable us to provide the service which you have instructed us to provide to you. This may include the transfer of the data both within and outside the United Kingdom. By instructing us to act on your behalf you give your explicit consent to the storage, processing and use of this personal data and sensitive personal data and the possible transfer of the data within and outside the United Kingdom.
We may also use personal data (but never sensitive personal data) which we collect after you contact us to market our full range of services to you. If you do not wish for your personal data to be used for marketing purposes please advise us.
It is likely that we may have to disclose certain information to third parties in order to progress your claim. For example we may release copies of your medical records or of the medical expert's report. We will only disclose such information as is necessary.
We would also like to keep you updated throughout your case and in the future by means of e-mail. If you provide us with your e-mail address we will consider this as your consent to be contacted in this manner. Please note however that such communication is capable of data corruption and you may therefore request confirmation of certain matters by telephone or in writing. You accept the risk of using e-mail to inform us of potentially sensitive information and it is your responsibility to check for viruses in any e-mails received.
Your file will be kept for 6 years following the conclusion of your case, after this time it will be destroyed.
