Concerns over Access to JusticeThe legal profession is constantly under attack from many angles.
Currently the government is considering further reducing the fees solicitors can charge for representing people who suffer injuries as a result of an accident. This is because of the Compensation Culture myth which is circulated regularly in the press and by insurance companies. Research by APIL (The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) has shown however that the overall number of compensation claims has not risen in the last few years and that there is still only a small percentage of people who could claim who actually do.
We as Solicitors will continue to represent our clients to the best of our abilities regardless, but there is a growing concern that "Access to justice" is being compromised.
